Women Empowerment

Weekly Support Groups: Our parent-led weekly support group provides a vehicle for mothers to discuss their situations without feeling that they are being judged. We work to identify the women’s strengths and have each participant recognize her ability to empower herself and to foster a sisterhood network. Monthly workshops in self-awareness and inner growth are attended by 15-30 women (including some not in the child welfare system), and are designed to develop self-esteem, emotional strength, and spiritual support.

We will continue our support group with a stronger emphasis on organizing and community awareness. We hope to expand our empowerment workshops because our parents deserve a space where they can rejuvenate and benefit from the expertise of empowerment specialists (psychologists, clinical social workers, and professionals in healing and meditation).
